Choosing the Right Colours for a Nursery

It’s incredibly exciting when you’re expecting a baby and making plans! You might be considering which stroller, car seat or highchair to purchase or how to decorate the nursery. Today we want to help with your nursery planning. There are many considerations when decorating a room for your new baby, and one of the most significant decisions is choosing the right colours for a nursery. You’ll need to decide what colour to paint the walls and what colour furniture to get, as these will be the dominant shades for the room.

If you know the gender of your baby, you might opt for traditional pastel blues, greens, pastel pink, or lilac. However, if you haven’t found out the sex of your baby or if you want to opt for something a bit more neutral, there are many great colour options. Soft lemon shades can be very calming for a baby (and their parents!), soft greys can feel cosy and warm, and shades of white are always timeless and elegant.

Sticking with pastel shades creates a relaxing and soothing environment for babies, making them more likely to sleep better in the room. Bright or deep colours can overstimulate a baby and won’t allow them to fall asleep as quickly. Therefore, bolder, more brilliant colours are better for playrooms or play areas.

If you opt for grey or white on the walls and furniture, you can add colour to the room in different ways, such as with a large rug, fun artwork on the walls, cushions, curtains and much more. Using a grey or white palette means it’s easy to change up the look and feel of a room quickly as your child grows and develops by simply changing some of the accessories.

Neutral furniture such as white, wood effect or something similar can work well with different wall colours and other décor choices as your child grows up.

A wardrobe is an ideal solution for your nursery as it lends an incredible amount of flexibility to the space and keeps the room lovely and tidy. At Infiniti2, our designers can help you create a wardrobe that exactly fills the space you have available. Our colourful selection of wardrobe doors can include extra panels to make them interesting, and there’s the option to add graphics and other designs to the doors to match the décor of your nursery.

We have a range of internal fixture options that can be changed as your child grows and their storage needs change from baby clothes and accessories to older children’s outfits, toys, books, and other items. Flexible storage options mean your child’s wardrobe can adapt and grow with them as they move through different stages of life, making it a cost-effective choice.
