Our clients hadn’t redecorated their bedroom for a long time and wanted something contemporary and clean. As is often the way in a Victorian house, we had to contend with a fireplace in the middle of the wall which they wanted to keep. The ceilings were very high with lovely moulded cornicing at the top.
As the clients wanted to keep the fireplace and weren’t keen on sliding doors we decided to build 2 wardrobes in the alcoves either side of the chimney breast; these are in a soft grey finish with push to open doors which leaves the door as a nice flat surface.
Inside the wardrobe we were able to maximise use of the lovely high ceilings by using pull down hangers but coming under the cornicing leaving this intact and visible. We finished the shelves with a ‘pine’ edging to match the pine floor.
With the freshly painted grey walls and complimentary soft grey wardrobes this is definitely creates the cool, calm look they were after!
